Rastafarians in Ethiopia

http://www.theworld.org/2011/11/rastafarian-ethiopia/

An article that comments on Rastafarian/Ethiopian relations in Ethiopia which seem similar to our article Nice Girls Don't Talk to Rastas.  This discusses their beliefs in a little more detail.

  1. This article was about Rastafarians that moved from the Caribbean back to Ethiopia. The challenges that they faced were very interesting, because in the Caribbean they felt oppressed and victims of colonialism, but in Ethiopia, they were outcast as the colonizers.

They were upset about the way they were treated by the natives because many of them dreamed about moving back to Africa, and thought they should be welcomed back to what they considered their home. Now they are realizing that they need to be more considerate of the native culture and do their best to fit in

  2. Descendants of Africa are dispersed throughout the world, but majority of them all have the dream of moving back to their native land. In this interesting article, Rastafarians moved from the Caribbean back to Ethiopia. They made this move because it was their dream and they thought they would be welcomed back with open arms, but instead they were viewed as "colonizers" which was very interesting because part of why they left the Caribbean was because they felt like victims of colonialism.

  3. Rastafarians wanting to move back to Ethiopia from the caribbean is not a bad thing. It's not surprising that they actually encounter some difficulties to fit in. They are coming back with a culture and way of living a bit different from the Ethiopian. of course the Ethiopian will not be willing to accept someone that will come and change they law, or how they view things. The rastafarians need to try to adapt to the Ethiopian culture and follow their rules and law. they can still practice their own culture, but just need to make sure that is doesn't conflict or cause problem with the Ethiopian culture.
